Miriam Armas

Years Played:

She has been playing 4 years in the girlś soccer program.

Accolades/Special Moments:

She enjoys the company of the girls on this team even though they didn’t have a winning record. Her favorite memory occurred during warmups. Abby and Miriam would dance to any music that came through the speaker. Special honor to the girls on this team for constantly making me feel funny and laughing at my jokes when they weren’t funny at all.

Future Plans:

Future plans are to graduate from Owens and become a sonographer and attend Aveda institute and graduate Esthetician school.

Kylee Baranski

Years Played:

Kylee has been on varsity all four years. She is a Senior Setter/Right Side Hitter for the program. She has been playing volleyball since the 3rd grade. Therefore, she has many years of experience to take to the court each game.

Accolades/Special Moments:

Kylee received honorable mention her junior year. Her favorite thing about volleyball is all of the different aspects and trust that happens on the team. Every single person has one or more jobs for the team to work properly, and everyone has to trust on another to do their job. Her favorite memory was during her freshman year, when the team made it far into tournament play. Kylee said it was a memorable experience that helped her obtain a true passion for the sport.

Future Plans:

In the future, Kylee plans to play collegiate volleyball while studying criminology. After that, her dream is to pursue a career in Crime Scene Investigation.

Clay Battin

Years Played:

Clay started playing flag football as a kindergartener. He continued with tackle football into his junior high years and is now finishing up his senior year.

Accolades/Special Moments:

Clay enjoys the competitiveness, the comradery, and the friendships that have evolved throughout the years. Football has taught him teamwork and valuable life lessons that he feels will carry with him throughout his future endeavors.

Clay’s favorite football memories include going to the Final Four and beating Eastwood multiple times.

Clay was a captain his junior year and is now a captain as a senior. His league honors include First team all league (2 years), first team all district, and Honorable mention All Ohio.

Future Plans:

His future plans at this time include attending an undecided college and to pursue a degree in Construction Management.

Joseph Brewster

Years Played:

Joe has been physically active for about as long as he can remember. His first year of cross country was in kindergarten for an organization called CYO. Since then his passion for running has only continued to grow, forming him into the person he is today. One of his favorite aspects about running is the community involvement and the friendships he has made throughout the years. The running community brings positive support to any and all people it encounters, no matter what skill level they may be at.

Accolades/Special Moments:

Throughout his years of running for Otsego, Joseph improved each season. In 9th grade at leagues he achieved honorable mention and won as a team. In 10th grade, he achieved all-league honors, and the team was able to place runner-up, and this past season he was blessed to be able to win leagues and progress to the regional championship with his team. Joseph considers himself truly fortunate for the opportunity to become a better runner and person with the help of his incredible coaches and teammates throughout the years. A favorite memory of his from cross country was during his freshman year. As a freshman, coming onto a new team of all older and more experienced runners was a pretty daunting thought, however, all of the people on the team made him feel welcome, and more so, made him look forward to practices more than he ever had before. HIs biggest wish for his near closing time at Otsego is that he can affect everyone he encounters with the same amiability he received.

Future Plans:

Joseph is still working out the details of his future plans but they may include going into the military, or going to college for a major in criminology or math education.

Patricia Borer

Years Played:

Patricia has been in soccer for all 4 years of high school.

Accolades/Special Moments:

What Patricia enjoys most about the sport is having fun with her friends and learning new skills. Soccer allows her to be active and stay in great shape. A favorite memory is when she is supposed to do 1v1 with a teammate and she can’t stop the dying laughter.

Future Plans:

Her future plans include horses & businesses. But she plans to play soccer on the side!

Corrina DeHart

Years Played:

Corrina has been cheering since the 4th grade. After nine years, something that she loves about cheering is the exciting atmosphere, especially during Friday night football games. She loves being close to the sidelines to watch and cheer on the football team. 

Accolades/Special Moments:

She is very thankful to have been a part of the varsity squad and competition squad all 4 years! She has found that being an Otsego cheerleader is a fun way to get involved with the school. Her favorite memory in cheer has to be either going to the final four game in 2020 or the Nationals trip to Disney World. 

Future Plans:

After high school, she hopes to attend The Ohio State University and pursue a career in the law field. She can’t wait to see what the future brings!

Abby Eberly

Years Played:

This will be Abbyś 13th year playing soccer. She has played for many different clubs including Anthony Wayne United, Metro FC, and Valentis. There are many things that she enjoys about soccer including the bonds that she has created with the teammates she has played with over the years. She is very excited about her senior season at Otsego this year.

Accolades/Special Moments:

Abby earned NBC Honorable Mention for striker during her junior year. She also had the honor of being the team captain for her junior and senior seasons! Her favorite memory is the sectional game last year against Lake. It was a night game and there was a pretty sunset. Although they did not win, Abby thought they played great together as a team!

Future Plans:

Her future plans are attending college and studying Kinesiology.

Sofia Ellis

Years Played:

This is Sofia’s second year of varsity soccer. Her best decision ever was letting Nat convince her to show up to practice in the middle of summer before junior year.

Accolades/Special Moments:

Her favorite memory is struggling to play against her brother in the boys vs. girls scrimmage her first year and his last year of soccer.

Future Plans:

Sofia has future plans to study Journalism and Political Science at an undecided university.

Bryndie Funk

Years Played:

This year will be her 4th year in the Otsego High School Volleyball program, 3rd year on the varsity team.

Accolades/Special Moments:

Volleyball has always been her passion. Bryndie has loved the sport since childhood. Although she enjoys playing the game, it’s the friendships and memories made on and off the court that make it most enjoyable for her.

Future Plans:

Next year, Bryndie plans to attend Owens Community College to study business and also get her real estate license.

Nataleigh Hartman

Years Played:

This is Nataleigh’s second year playing Varsity soccer.

Accolades/Special Moments:

She is forever grateful for Isaac being her driving instructor the summer before her junior year and telling her to play. Her favorite thing about soccer is getting to play next to her sister every game.

Future Plans:

Nataleigh’s future plans include studying law at an undecided college and taking over the world.

Caeden Henderson

Years Played:

Caedan Henderson has been playing football since the 3rd grade. So 10 years he has spent dedicating his time to the sport. The reason he stuck with it so long would be the fact that he enjoys the energy football brings. Also, he loves being outside instead of just sitting in his room. Caeden enjoys being active and football pushes him to be his best.

Favorite Memory:

The memory that stuck with him the most happened during the middle of his football career. It was in 6th grade, and during the playoffs he had so many long runs. Caeden will never forget the priceless feeling of reaching the end zone again and again.

Accolades/Special Moments:

His fondest memory was during his first year of high school football and having the opportunity to experience the Friday night atmosphere. Although he didn’t get to do much playing, the energy there in the stadium is just amazing and you can feel it playing or not.

Future Plans:

As far as future plans, Caedan plans on going into either some sort of engineering or possibly apprentice as a finished carpenter. He is not really set on which one yet but looks forward to all of the new opportunities the future holds.

Lauren Hillesheim

Years Played:

This season will be her third year of varsity soccer. The thing she enjoys most about soccer is that no matter what, win or lose…you are guaranteed to have fun!

Accolades/Special Moments:

Lauren has the honor of being one of the team captains to lead her team for her senior season. Her favorite memory is when Coach Isaac made a joke at practice and Coach Heather laughed so hard she spit her water all over Lauren.

Future Plans:

After high school, she plans to attend the University of Toledo and major in Nursing.

Kamryn Hollar

Years Played:

This is her 4th year playing soccer for Otsego. Kamryn has been selected to be a captain for her senior year!

Accolades/Special Moments:

Kamryn received NBC honorable mention as striker her sophomore year. Something she enjoys most about soccer is forming new friendships because each year a new group of girls join. Her favorite memory would have to be during their sectional game against Lake last year. She thought that was the best game they played all season, regardless of the score.

Adam Kosinski

Years Played:

Adam has played on the golf team for all four years of his high school career. Something he loves about this sport is challenging himself to be a better golfer, as well as a better teammate. He has been on the varsity team for three years now and he hopes to win leagues this year.

Accolades/Special Moments:

One of his favorite memories was driving a 350 yard par 4 green during a practice round at Crosswinds with 50+ mph winds.

Future Plans:

After high school, he wishes to major in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toledo.

Chesney Kuron

Years Played:

Chesney has been the varsity goalkeeper for 3 years now. She has been selected to be team captain her junior year and senior year. Chesney has loved playing soccer and the friendships she has formed over the years.

Accolades/Special Moments:

She was awarded Honorable Mention for goalie for her sophomore and junior seasons. Also, she was first in state for the number of saves a goalkeeper can have in one season for 2 years in a row. At the end of her junior year, she was 6th in the nation for the number of saves in a season. Chesney said her favorite memory happened during her first game of her varsity career. She had a shut-out against Wauseon. This exciting and well played game gave her confidence going into the rest of the season.

Future Plans:

Her future plans include attending college and going pre-med with a major in biology.

Makenna Lenhardt

Years Played:

She has been playing soccer for 3 years at Otsego High school.

Accolades/Special Moments:

Makenna´s favorite memory was joining the team her sophomore year because the team made it very fun and welcoming. She has enjoyed making new memories with the team and learning new skills over the years.

Future Plans:

After high school, Makenna plans to attend the University of Toledo to major in exercise science to continue her education to become a chiropractor.

Chase Lorenz

Years Played:

Chase Lorenz has played soccer for the past 8 years including recreational and travel leagues as well as Otsego Varsity since he was a freshman.

Accolades/Special Moments:

He lettered as a freshman, sophomore, and junior and received honorable mention as a defender for the NBC in 2021. His coaches also awarded him Defensive Player of the Year in 2021.

Future Plans:

He plans to attend the University of Toledo and major in a health related field so he can continue his education and pursue a degree to be an optometrist.

Abigail Martin

Years Played:

Abigail has been running cross country at Otsego for 6 years. She enjoys running because it helps her clear her head and it is a great workout. Abigail points out that it is not always fun and easy, but hard work pays off.

Accolades/Special Moments:

Her favorite cross country memories are the traditions that the team continues each year like the Grand Rapids garage sale scavenger hunt and the team dinner at the Spaghetti Warehouse before the district meet. According to Abigail, Cross Country teaches you mental toughness and how to push through adversity. The people in Otsego cross country are amazing. They are funny, strong, nerdy, weird, supportive, kind, and the best people you would ever want to run with for miles and miles in 90° weather or 50° sleet and rain.

Future Plans:

After graduation, she plans to study Speech-Language Pathology. She chose this path because she wants to help kids and she loves reading. Abigail would rather work one on one and in order to see the progress of the individual child than with a class of 30 students. Abigail wants to say thank you to her family, friends, and teammates for supporting her and helping her become the person she is today. Go Knights!

Brady Niceley

Years Played:

Brady has been playing football all four years of high school. He enjoys football because ¨it’s not just a thing you go to after school and during the summer it’s like another family to be a part of because of the friendships formed.¨

Accolades/Special Moments:

Brady was first team all conference and second team all state last year. Bradyś favorite memory was beating Eastwood last year for the all out league championship and the students section rushing the field.

Future Plans:

In his future, he plans to attend BGSU or Cincinnati university for construction management.

Levi Puffer

Years Played:

Levi started playing soccer in junior high for the Bowling Green Soccer Club. He has spent the last 4 years playing indoor soccer and, most importantly, playing for Otsego.

Accolades/Special Moments:

What Levi enjoys most about playing soccer is being part of a team and having fun with everyone. There’s been a lot of great times but his favorite memory is probably when the whole team stayed in the goalie box during the Swanton game his sophomore year.

Future Plans:

His future plans include building a career in the United States Air Force.

Olivia Speegle

Years Played:

Olivia has been passionate about the sport of soccer and has played for many years. Throughout the years she has been on teams for Anthony Wayne, Bowling Green, and many more.

Accolades/Special Moments:

The thing she enjoys most about soccer is the irreplaceable teamwork that is developed. For example, a favorite memory of hers is attending the tournaments and building strong bonds with her coach, Issac Puffer, and the team. The hilarious bus rides dancing to music and the uplifting positivity that the team has is encouraging.

Future Plans:

Her special honors include being in Honors Language Arts and having a 3.5 GPA. She is currently taking real estate classes for her Florida License and plans to pursue real estate after graduating high school. She does not plan to attend college at this time but aspires to be an entrepreneur like her dad.

Blake Steele

Years Played:

Blake has been playing football since the 2nd grade. He is going on his 11th year. Blake loves being able to play in front of his family and community week in and week out!

Accolades/Special Moments:

One memory that he will always have is being the first in his family to beat Eastwood. It was especially memorable to beat Eastwood 4 times in 2 years!

Future Plans:

After high school, he plans on going to a trade school to further his education.

Chaz Timko

Years Played:

Chaz Timko has played golf all 4 years at Otsego High School. He has enjoyed playing because of the opportunity to meet new golfers from other areas.

Accolades/Special Moments:

Chaz received Second Team All-NBC honors his sophomore and junior years. According to Chaz, his favorite memory has to be the Monday morning divot repair sessions each summer when the players joked around and got a free round of golf out of it.

Future Plans:

He plans to attend the University of Cincinnati to major in Film and Media Studies. His long term goal includes beginning a career in an undecided area of the film industry.

Jack Vollmar

Years Played:

This is Jack’s second year playing on the golf team. He played some varsity last year and is on the varsity team this year.

Accolades/Special Moments:

Jack is appreciative to his close friends and family who pushed him to play golf. He is aiming to assist his team in winning the league championship this year. Jack is also hoping to help build the future of the golf program at Otsego.

Future Plans:

Jack plans to enter the skilled trades after graduation.

Walker Zulch

Years Played:

For a while, Walker didn’t enjoy running. In fact, he didn’t start running cross country until his junior year. Therefore, he has only been running for two years. In that time frame, he has created many memories with the team.

Accolades/Special Moments:

His teammates made it easier to just keep running. The best memory he has is when the team was at Seneca East for their night race. They painted themselves so they glowed in the dark. He let the team paint him, and he has an amazing picture with him covered in paint, excited for the race to prove it. That excitement was carried into his 5k where he earned a personal record of 22:38. He can say it’s not the fastest time ever, but for the first year he was happy with it. Walker has big goals for his senior season which would be to break 22 minutes and quite possibly even 21 minutes.

Future Plans:

After he graduates high school, he plans to move to Los Angeles where he will pursue his dream and passion for acting. He will go to college and do auditions in his free time. Hopefully, you’ll see WALKER ZULCH on the BIG SCREENS as a major or minor role some day.
